In Memory Of

Cohn, Jean who passed away on 9/8/2021 at the age of 71

Long time MobileMed supporter and friend Jean Cohn passed away in fall 2021 after a long battle with cancer. Jean was an incredible partner serving as a lay leader for MobileMed's work at Episcopal Church of the Ascension. The Episcopal Church of the Ascension has generously supported MobileMed for many years, hosting our Gaithersburg medical van site and providing countless volunteers. Her leadership in coordinating the Ascension volunteer team was earnest and heartfelt. Her assistance to patients-from filling out forms to allaying fears of medical care-showed that she was deeply connected with her patients. Her kindness and caring attitude was contagious.

Jean's generosity of time and effort was a gift, not only to MobileMed, but also to many other programs in our community. Jean was a committed member of Episcopal Church of the Ascension, where she was regularly involved in services as a lector, usher, and Healing Prayer Minister. She also devoted herself to helping care for those in need through her volunteering with the Lord's Table Soup Kitchen.

Jean's passion was healing. She worked for many years as a nurse at Montgomery Hospice and before that for more than two decades as a Navy Nurse Corps officer. MobileMed was very lucky to be the recipient of her enthusiasm for nursing in her retirement. When someone needed help, Jean was there. Jean is survived by her beloved husband Don, and by their son Dustin (Heather) and granddaughter Taylor, of Florida.

Many friends have chosen to honor Jean through memorial gifts, including many congregants from the Episcopal Church of the Ascension. We thank each of them for supporting a cause close to Jean's heart.
