Duff, Kathleen J. O'kane who passed away on 2/22/2014 at the age of 88

Kathleen J. O'Kane Duff of Kingston, N.Y. died peacefully on February 22, 2014, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and William Rudge, in Oliverea, N.Y. Born in 1925 in Dover, the daughter of Bernard D. and Evelyn V. O'Kane, Kathleen enjoyed an active childhood, developing an athleticism that she enjoyed throughout her life. She earned a nursing degree from St. Joseph's Hospital in Providence, R.I., and as a registered nurse, she served in the U.S. Navy Nursing Corps. at Navy hospitals in the U.S. and in Honolulu; and, as a lieutenant, she served as the chief nurse on Midway Island in the Pacific tending to Korean War casualties. During her service she met fellow Naval officer, Francis A. Duff, whom she married in 1954. Kath and Frank subsequently made their home in New York state where they raised their six children: all of whom survive them: Deborah Feth, Minn., Terrance Duff, N.C., Christopher Duff, Wash., Timothy Duff, Va., Patricia Rudge, N.Y. and Megan Mercado, N.Y. Additionally, she is survived by 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Anne Whearty, and her husband Thomas of Needham, Mass., and a brother, Donald O'Kane of Dover. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis in 2006. She was also predeceased by a brother, Robert M. O'Kane, and by a sister, A. Bernardine Alie.

At Kathleen's request, a private remembrance was observed by the family.
