In Memory Of<br /><br />Brown, Rose Nora Costa who passed away on 11/1/2006 at the age of 93<br /><br /><br>Rose Nora Brown passed away peacefully in Auburn, California on November 1, 2006.<br>
 Born in Windber, Pennsylvania on October 29, 1913 to Sebastian and 
Grace Costa. She graduated from Windber Area High School in 1931 and was
 a 1935 graduate of the Windber Hospital School of Nursing. During World
 War II, she served 2 ½ years aboard the Navy Hospital ship U.S.S. 
Consolation. She held the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade in the Nurse 
Corps.<br> She married Stephen W. Brown on June 22, 1946 in Windber, 
Pennsylvania and they moved to Auburn, California to begin their careers
 in education. Steve was principal of Alta Vista School in Auburn and 
Rose served the Auburn Union Elementary School District for 33 years as 
school nurse until she retired in 1979.<br> Rose and Stephen "Steve" 
were married for 54 years. He preceded her in death in October, 2000. 
Rose is survived by her sister Amelia DiGirolamo of Auburn and many 
nephews and nieces<br> A viewing with fellowship and refreshments will 
be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 5 p.m. with a Rosary following 
at 6 p.m. at Lassila Funeral Chapels, 551 Grass Valley Highway in 
Auburn. A mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at
 St. Josephs Church in Auburn.<br> In lieu of flowers, the family 
requests that donations be made to the Auburn Education Foundation, P. 
O. Box 6313, Auburn, CA 95604.
