Dapkewicz, Virginia who passed away on 3/15/2009 at the age of 84
Virginia M. Dapkewicz, 84, of South Whitehall Township, formerly of Wind
Gap, died Sunday, March 15, 2009 in her residence. Born November 13,
1924 in Pen Argyl, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary
(Nasatka) Dapkewicz. She was employed as an administrative nurse in the
operating rooms at St. Lukes Hospital, Fountain Hill,for 30 years until
retiring in 1988. She was a 1942 graduate of Pen Argyl High School, a
1946 graduate of the former Allentown General Hospital School of
Nursing, and a graduate of the New York City Poly Clinic Hospital for
operating room management. She served in the Navy in the Korean War. She
attended St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Orefield. She was also a
member of the former St. Josephs Catholic Church, Wind Gap, where she
was a member of the Sodality. She was a member of the Navy Nurse Corp
Association, a member of the Alumni Association of Allentown Hospital
School of Nursing, a member and past president of the Lehigh Valley
Chapter of Operating Room Nurses and a member of the Red Hat Society. Survivors: Virginia is survived by a son, David Dapkewicz and his wife, Melissa, of Fogelsville; grandson, Alex Dapkewicz. Services:
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m.
Saturday, March 28 in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, Babbitt
and Heller Avenues, Pen Argyl. Call 12:30-1 p.m. in the church. Burial
will follow in St. Elizabeths Catholic Cemetery, Plainfield Township.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the James B. Gaffney Funeral Home,
