Cox, Jane who passed away on 3/8/2007 at the age of 85
Jane E. Brauer Cox, 85, of Miami, Fla., died Thursday, March 8, 2007.
She was born Aug. 9, 1921, in Bolivar, a daughter of the late Frank and
Elizabeth (Long) Brauer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by brother, Robert Brauer, and sisters, Georgiana "Toots" Miller
and Patricia Jean Burke. She is survived by husband, Glen W. Cox, of
Miami, Fla., to whom she was married on Nov. 15, 1970. She is also
survived by sons, Robert Fuhrman, of Arroyo Grande, Calif., and Eric
Fuhrman, of Santa Barbara, Calif.; stepson, Gregory Cox and wife,
Kathleen, of Hatfield, Pa.; sister, Margaret B. "Peg" Woods, of Easton,
Pa.; stepgranddaughter, Samantha Colborn, of San Jose, Calif.; and
several nieces and nephews. She graduated from Bolivar High School in
1939. She then attended nursing school in Wilkinsburg, and graduated as a
registered nurse in 1943. She served as a Navy nurse from 1943 through
1948 and had earned the rank of lieutenant upon discharge. She and her
husband, Glen, were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Coral
Gables for 24 years. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday,
May 19, at the Bolivar Presbyterian Church with Pastor James Sunseri
officiating.
