Durell, Judith Anne who passed away on 9/10/2016 at the age of 83
DuRELL, Judith (nee Mehlberth), 83, of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away surrounded by family, September 10, 2016 at her home. Born October 26, 1932 in Dayton, Ohio, Judy graduated from Oakwood High School (Dayton, Ohio) in 1950 and then from Christ Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati, Ohio, as a registered nurse. Following a brief stint at hospital nursing, Judy accepted a commission at the rank of Lt.JG in the Navy to continue her nursing career. After leaving the Navy, she worked at the National Naval Medical Center and also Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. In retirement, attention to her family was her top priority. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting and collecting Vera Bradley handbags. Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Edward J. and Marie C. Mehlberth (Stauffer), sisters Alberta, Mary, and Glenna, nieces Harriett, Anne, and Nancy. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James DuRell, daughters Pamela (Normand), and Brenda (Gregg), and son Jeffery, nephews Brooks and Jim, and grandchildren Buddy, Cori, Tyler, Daniel, Jimmy, David and Jenna and great-grandson Jackson. Visitation Thursday, September 15. 2016, 2PM to 4 PM at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, Maryland (301-948-6800).
