Brownfield, Margaret Mary Tarter who passed away on 9/22/2012 at the age of 66

Margaret Mary Tarter Brownfield passed away on September 22, 2012, after a courageous two month battle with cancer. She was born on December 13, 1945, in Staten Island, NY, where she was raised in a loving Catholic family. She was trained as a nurse at King's County Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY, a profession she passionately practiced for 46 years. She served as a nursing officer in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, reporting for active duty in 1968. During her military service, she met and fell in love with her husband of 43 years, Thomas J. Brownfield, Retired Captain US Marine Corps. In 1981 Margaret and her family moved to Houston where they have lived in the Bay Area for the last 31 years. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and generous friend who will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Catherine Tarter, her brothers Frederick Tarter and David Tarter, as well as her godson Gerard Tarter, all of Staten Island, NY. She is survived by her husband, Thomas, and their three children, Catherine, Thomas and Mary, her daughter-in-law Shelley, her son-in-law Justin Calhoun, and her grandchildren Alaina and Jack. Visitation and Rosary will take place at the Crowder Funeral Home in Webster, TX, on September 26, 2012 from 6-8pm. A funeral will be held for Margaret on September 27, 2012, at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in Clear Lake, TX at 10am.
