Afinowicz, Patricia Mary Press who passed away on 7/10/2016 at the age of 76
Born
in Jersey City, NJ to George C. and Mary E. Press, Patricia died from
complications of septic shock and congestive heart failure at 76. Having grown
up in Teaneck and Maywood, NJ, Patricia attended St. Cecilia High School and received
her BSN (Nursing) from Seton Hall University. She became a surgical nurse in
the U.S. Navy attaining the rank of Lieutenant where she met her former husband
John R., a medical doctor and Lieutenant Commander in the Navy, based in
Portsmouth, VA. There she gave birth to her only son David. She lived in Long
Beach, CA for 36 years, and faced illness and disability. Yet, she remained
spiritual. She is survived by her son David (Concord, CA), his wife Therese and
her two grandchildren Timothy and Sophie as well as her sister Barbara (Tom) O'
Lone of Florida. A private mass was held at St. Agnes Church in Concord, CA and
her ashes will be placed at the Veterans Memorial in Seaside, CA. In lieu of
flowers, donations in her name may be made to St. Agnes Church in Concord, CA
or Disabled Veterans of America.
