Diane Agrell ObituaryAgrell, Diane CARLSBAD -- Diane Agrell died at home on January 25, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Born in Queens, NY in 1940, Diane went on to live a remarkable life. Shortly after graduating from Mary Immaculate Hospital School of Nursing, Diane joined the Navy Nurse Corps. While in the Navy, she became a Family Nurse Practitioner. After 23 years of active duty, having attained the rank of Captain, Diane earned a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. After several years of practice in the counseling field, Diane retired and became an avid golfer. She was an active member of several local golf clubs, and was President of the Camp Pendleton Ladies Golf Club for two years. For several years, Diane was the handicap chairperson of the San Diego County Women's Golf Association, and was widely known in the San Diego County women's golf community. Diane is survived by three nephews, Mathew, Douglas and Chris Agrell; and a niece, Caitlin Agrell. Diane's death leaves a void in the many lives she touched, and her friends mourn her passing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Carlsbad at 10 a.m., on Wednesday April 3, 2013, followed by a Memorial Service with military honors at Miramar National Cemetery. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Navy Nurse Memorial at Miramar National Cemetery, c/o NNCASC, 6706 Clover Ct., Carlsbad, CA 92011
